MINIATURE, AFTER FRANÇOIS BOUCHER. 19TH CENTURY.

Decorative Antiques - Paintings
Reference: Z4402A

Framed miniature, modelled after François Boucher. 19th century. Signed. Frame with a miniature inspired by the famous portrait of Madame de Pompadour (Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, 1721 - 1764) painted by François Boucher around 1756 and kept at the Scottish National Gallery (note the inversion between the two and the variations in the face). The fine bronze frame that borders the oval miniature has a relief of vegetal elements typical of the French school. Compare this with the miniature of the same lady kept at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum (Bournemouth, England) dated to the 18th century. On the reverse it has a paper cover taken from a book and a label with two numbers identifying the subject.
