MINIATURE, AFTER FRANÇOIS BOUCHER. 19TH CENTURY.

Decorative Antiques - Paintings
Reference: Z4402A

Framed miniature, modeled after François Boucher. XIX century. Signed. Little frame with miniature inspired by the well-known portrait of Madame de Pompadour (Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, 1721 - 1764) made by François Boucher around 1756, which is kept in the Scottish National Gallery (note the inversion between the two and the variations in the face). The fine bronze frame that borders the oval miniature presents a relief of plant elements common in the French school. Compare with the miniature of the same lady preserved in the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum (Bournemouth, England) dated to the 18th century. On the back it has a paper cover taken from a book and a label with two numbers identifying the sitter.
