LOUIS XV STYLE WRITING TABLE WITH “FEATHER” MARQUETRY.
Decoration - Furniture / Classic
Reference: D174
Louis XV style desk with “quill” marquetry. It rests on four cabriole legs with a notable curvature, decorated with a band of gilded metal along its entire profile and a lower finial in the shape of an animal paw, made with plant and rocaille motifs. The waist has three drawers in its front made of darker wood than the rest, which also has rectangles with a curved lower profile on the shorter sides; it is worth mentioning the curvatures of the lower part of this area. The upper board, highlighted by a metal band with mirrors in the corners, shows a central area with “quill” marquetry within a band with plant elements. Both decorative elements and the curves of lines and profiles are characteristic of the style known in France as Louis XV (Rococo), which inspired the desk.
