Decorative Antiques -
Reference: Z0503
Box with metal marquetry. Wood, metal. Possibly French school, 19th century. It has damage. It requires restoration. Rectangular chest with a flat lid, with a dark wood interior decorated with two metal lines on the lid, and a black exterior with carved decorations (a moulding towards the base and another on the top) and metal marquetry applications. This is concentrated in the recess for the lock and in the upper part of the lid (a composition of polychrome plant and architectural elements concentrated in the centre and in the corners, joined together by lines). Both in the style of the decoration and in the tones used, it is reminiscent of Napoleon III pieces from the French school.
