Reference: Z5927
Lyre-leg desk. Walnut wood, wrought iron. Early 20th century. Rectangular writing table with three drawers at the front (locking by key, handle and lock shield), carved wooden lyre legs and curved latches in turned metal decorated with scrolls and other simple elements. The lyre leg (so called because of its shape) was a common element of Spanish Baroque furniture, as are latches (although not exactly in the way presented here). It was common in the 19th and 20th centuries to be inspired by antique Spanish furniture to create new pieces by adding some detail or modifying others to adapt them to new uses and tastes.
