Chest inspired by 17th century models. Silver. Spain, 20th century. Rectangular casket made of silver in its colour, with four legs in the corners in the shape of a scroll and finished in a claw, decorated on the fronts with a decoration of mouldings, bands and motifs within rectangles (yokes, a bundle of arrows, a letter f crowned between two pomegranates, a letter y crowned between two pomegranates) in clear allusion to the Catholic Monarchs. The stepped lid presents a composition of scrolls, architectural elements and plant motifs on a background with a lustre-like finish, and a small rectangular “diamond” as a finish. It closes with a pin and a chain at the front. Compare, for example, with the 17th century silver casket in the museum of the Monastery of Santa María de la Caridad in Tudela, or with the so-called Casket of the Holy Martyrs of the parish of Santa María de Manlleu which is in the Episcopal Museum of Vic. Weight: 526 grams.
