Reference: ZF1263

Auxiliary table or “guéridon”. Mahogany, gilt bronze, onyx (possibly from Algeria). France, towards the end of the 19th century. Octagonal side table made of mahogany wood with a top board made of light-colored onyx or onyx that has four legs joined in the lower area with a curved chambrana, which join together in a central piece topped by a small shaped piece. of vase. On the waist you can see gilt bronze applications of classicist influence between the dice that top the legs, these decorated with bronze applications. Between each two legs there is a wooden pinjante element. There are known examples preserved in private collections of French furniture with onyx boards, of similar colors to this one, from Algeria. Stylistically, the table presents a strong French and neoclassicist influence, with elements (the pinjantes) considered an orientalist touch.
