Pair of carved marble sculptures. “Tiger”. Inspired by oriental models. The tigers are placed on a base that resembles earth thanks to sgraffito, and are shown roaring. The stripes on their bodies have been left in relief, like the hairs on their face; the whiskers and nose are not, but are simply engraved on the surface of the marble. Clear influences from Tibetan and Indian examples can be seen in the figure, which stands out for its magnificent combination of textures and the expressiveness of the animal.
