Spanish: Reinosa Gate, Aguilar de Campoo. Oil on canvas. Signed, dated and titled in the lower right corner. The painting shows a view of one of the gates of the city of Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia), specifically the one called Reinosa or Burgos Gate. María Reneses, best known for her watercolours, trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid, where she has already won awards. She founded the Spanish Association of Watercolourists (AEDA) and was a member of its Board of Directors. She took part in National Exhibitions, Biennials and various National Competitions organised by the AEPE and other institutions, and was a regular at the Autumn Salons, attending those from 1949, 1952 to 1965, 1967 to 1971, 1973, 1977 to 1981, 1976 and from 1983 to 1989. She won the Third Medal for Watercolour at the Autumn Salon in 1956, First Medal at the 1964 Salon, etc. Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, one at the National Museum in Madison (Wisconsin, United States of America), etc. For more than twenty years, she sponsored a prize named after her at the Autumn Salons, a prize especially designed for young watercolourists.
