GLASS CAMEO, PORTRAIT. POSSIBLY SPAIN, 19TH CENTURY.

Decorative Antiques -
Reference: ZF128405

Cameo or intaglio, portrait. Glass. Possibly Spain, 19th century. Glass cameo with a profile bust of a male figure with a curly wig and a bow tying a low ponytail. Based on comparisons with other portraits, it is possible that this is of Charles IV (Portici, 11 November 1748 - Naples, 19 January 1819; King of Spain from 1788 to 1808). Compare with the painting by Juan Bauzil (Charles IV de Espaldas, National Heritage, Spain), or the Profile of Charles IV, King of Spain (1748-1819) which appears in the "Collection of Portraits of Their Majesties, Princes and Infants of Spain, Drawn by Antonio Carnicero, Court Painter and engraved by Brunetti" (1802 Etching and burin, intaglio. National Library. Madrid).
