Saint Francis of Assisi. Painted glass. Spanish school, 18th century. Painted glass showing a man with a halo, holding a skull (of which the viewer can see the lower part). Thanks to this posture and the stigma on his side, he is clearly identified with Saint Francis of Assisi, in an iconographic theme that is usually called "meditating on death" and that has been treated, in a somewhat similar way to the present one, by masters such as Ribera, Zurbarán, etc.
