Wall sconce. Bronze. Early 20th century. Wall light made of gilded bronze with three points of light (shaped like a candlestick, recalling when candles were used), and a decoration based on latticework, plant and architectural elements with a clear French and neoclassical influence. This type of lighting elements were frequently found in prominent areas of buildings such as palaces, theatres, etc.

Gallé style vase. Glass. 20th century. Glass vase in yellow, orange and brown tones decorated with a cameo-like decoration of palm trees and pyramids. It is clearly inspired by the works of Émile Gallé (Nancy, 1846-1904), an artist considered one of the main names of French Art Nouveau and well known for his work with glass (especially what is often called “cameo glass”).

Acetre. Bronze 18th century. Metal vessel with a circular base, a flared body and decorated on the outside with mouldings and smooth bands. It has a metal handle with curved lines of different widths. Stylistically, it is possible to appreciate the purity of lines that is common in Neoclassical works, despite the fact that this type of piece is very old.

Ashtray. Silver (.833) in its colour. Porto, Portugal, 1938-1984. With contrast marks. Ashtray with two silver supports in its colour, decorated with a series of vegetal and architectural elements of Rococo influence (note the arched shape of the wide area), but with an arrangement that follows neoclassical models of the 19th century. This combination of styles was common in 19th century European silverware, and remained popular afterwards. The hallmarks on it place its manufacture in Oporto (Portugal), and date it between 1938 and 1984, indicating the metal's fineness (.833). Weight: 225 grams.

Mirror. Silver-plated metal, glass. Circa 1900. Rectangular mirror with a pointed top decorated with a frame that features a band of pearls on the inside and smooth areas highlighted with rectangular elements that have plant motifs on the inside; the wider base features a kneeling lady inside a garland of flowers that extends to the sides of the piece in abundant bouquets. The curved lines and the prominence of the female figure are two details that link the mirror with Modernism.

The elaborate and delicate decoration based on architectural elements, garlands, plant motifs and scrolls (all with a classicist influence) is arranged in a harmonious geometric composition. The piece is inspired by Rococo works from the 18th century and Neoclassical works from the 19th century.

Circular tray in embossed silver in its colour, circular and decorated on the edge with a series of busts within strings of pearls, accompanied by scrolls, plant elements and osier motifs clearly reminiscent of Rococo, which has a serrated edge on the outside. The piece is inspired by a common typology in Spanish silverware (especially in Cordoba and Salamanca settings and in the 18th century) known for its embossed decoration, its themes, and its shape. Neo-Renaissance coat rack. Beech wood, metal. 19th century. Wall-mounted coat rack made of carved beech wood with metal elements, decorated with turned “columns” and carvings with architectural, plant and animal themes and a tondo with the profile of a knight inspired by the Renaissance. The upper part has hangers for coats, jackets, etc., and, towards the middle of the piece of furniture, there are two turned metal rods for holding walking sticks or umbrellas.

Both the material and its decoration respond to common models in art known as “popular” because it was created to be used in rural areas, without ever losing a clear taste for the decorative.

Set of three serving cutlery. Silver. ESPUÑES, Matilde. Spain, early 20th century. With contrast marks. Set of three serving cutlery pieces made of silver in its colour, consisting of a serving fork and shovel and a fish knife, decorated with engraved plant elements, accompanied in two pieces by a central composition with wavy shapes and plant elements and scrolls (in the case of the shovel, openwork, this wavy shape is worked to recall a dragon). One of the pieces has initials, and all three have hallmarks and hallmarks. Matilde Espuñes y Bagués, daughter of Luis Espuñes, trained with her father, later setting up on her own (M. ESPUÑES brand, active 1909-1950) and achieving notable success. Weight: 0.32 kg.

Large candle. Silver-plated metal. 19th century. Table candle with a circular base and a column-shaped stem that is narrower at the bottom. The circular body of the piece, decorated with fine mouldings, has an upward decoration (in which a handle is inserted) with slight curves, a concave plate decorated with engraved lines and some clamps hanging from a chain. As is usual in 19th century art, it is inspired by styles of the past, adapting them to the taste of the moment.

Corona typewriter with case and Polish sticker. First half of the 20th century. Typewriter with carrying case, featuring an exterior handle and latches. As can be deduced from the names on it, it is from the Corona Typewriter Company, Inc., Groton, NY, USA. One of the best known is the Model 3, which was first manufactured in 1912. As a curiosity, the present machine bears a sticker that has been linked to a Polish repair shop that is known to have been in operation in 1937.

Brazier box. Carved walnut wood. 19th century. Circular brazier stand made of carved walnut wood with simple legs to raise it slightly from the ground and thus distribute more heat throughout the room in which it is placed. These types of elements were very common in interiors until the invention and expansion of other heating systems. However, it is not common for them to be preserved given their purely utilitarian purpose and their replacement by a more modern one as soon as tastes change or when the previous one deteriorates.
