Pair of enamelled porcelain figurines. “Pair of musician monkeys”. Inspired by models from the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres (France). One of the animals is dressed as a woman, singing with a book in one hand and playing a cello in the other. These figures were highly appreciated in Europe from the end of the 18th century onwards for their exoticism, and were made by all the main porcelain factories. This work can be related to creations by the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres (France).
