Christ with angel. Oil on canvas. 18th century. The painting depicts Christ, dressed, supported by the shoulders or back by an angel, both figures situated in an indeterminate space, accompanied by various symbols of the Passion (cross, chalice). The theme of the dead Christ supported by an angel has been treated several times in art (Antonello da Mesina in the 15th century, Fernando Yáñez de la Almedina, Alonso Cano, Jacob Backer the Elder, etc.), with the peculiarity that, following the text that inspired it, Jesus appears with the loincloth and not fully dressed as in the present work.

In 1897, Carrillo retired and Mateos joined, remaining under this name and beginning that year to expand into the markets of Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, and America. Erato. Framed engraving. TORRAS ARMENGOL, Francesc. Spain, circa 1874. Framed etching showing a female figure in a natural landscape, holding a stringed musical instrument in one arm. In ancient Greek mythology, Erato was the muse of choral lyricism and love and, since the Renaissance, she has been depicted crowned with myrtle and roses and carrying a small lyre or a zither, sometimes with a golden arrow, etc. This etching was originally part of the first volume (number 45, as indicated in the upper corner) of the El Grabador al Aguafuerte collection, which went on sale in 1874. Bargueño. Carey, bronze, wood, iron. Italy, 17th century; back table. An open-faced desk made of wood and finished in tortoiseshell, which has a division into three areas at the front. The side areas have four drawers each (each with two tortoiseshell-shaped slots highlighted with a metal band flanking each lock shield), gilded details with plant elements and Solomonic columns at the outer ends on a base and finished off with curved and straight architectural elements. The central part, called the chapel, is presented forward and has a prominent architectural composition with Solomonic columns and elements in gilded bronze. The piece of furniture is finished off with an openwork band under architectural elements and is situated on legs holding spheres. The buffet or bargueñera table that supports and highlights it, of a later date, has turned legs joined by a chambrana and two wrought iron fasteners. The general layout of the piece of furniture follows models that were known and used in cabinetmaking throughout Europe throughout the 17th century, of which the best examples are considered to be of Italian origin, like the present one. Thus, its decorative elements belong to the same tradition: the legs carved in the shape of a bird's claw synthesized on a ball are very typical of the period; the sides are flatter and simpler (geometric marquetry); etc. However, the present example stands out from the usual in its contemporaries due to the architectural elements of the front and the ribbed pieces of the drawers already mentioned and which are totally different from what can be found in the wastepaper baskets of this type linked to Antwerp. Compare the present example with the one preserved in the Museo Nacional de Cerámica y Artes Sumptuarias González Martí (Valencia) which does not have the elements of the drawers already mentioned.

Naveta. Silver in its colour. Salamanca, Spain, 1824-1850. With contrast marks and text. Silver vessel in its colour with a circular, stepped base decorated with ready mouldings, a turned axis or base with lines, and an elongated upper part, with a lid on one side and a protuberance on the other side of the piece (note the damage here). The hallmarks on the edge of the upper part (under the hinged lid) and on the foot place the production of this naveta in Salamanca, during the years of the faithful hallmark known as Bernabé Hidalgo (apparently documented in 1840, considered by some to be active in the 18th and 19th centuries; there is evidence of a Bernabé Sahagún Hidalgo working as a hallmark in Salamanca between 1824 and 1850). The other hallmark could not be identified. Also note the legend “Billaberde” located on the foot of the piece. Weight: 454 grams.

Norton motorcycle, model ES2 500 CC, circa 1948 Incomplete documentation; it has circulation permits from 1958 and 1980. Norton, or Norton Motorcycles, is a British motorcycle brand founded in 1898 that ceased production in the 1990s and restarted activity in 2008. The company was acquired in 1952 by Associated Motor Cycles, becoming part of the Norton-Villiers group in 1966, and in 1972 it was integrated into the Norton-Villiers-Triumph group, following the liquidation of BSA (the former owner of Triumph). Designed by Walter Moore, the Norton CS1 engine appeared in 1927, based largely on the ES2 pushrod engine and using many of its parts. Moore was recruited by NSU in 1930, after which Arthur Carroll designed an entirely new OHC engine destined to become the basis for all subsequent OHC and DOHC Norton singles. (Moore's move to NSU prompted his former staff to joke that NSU stood for "Norton Spares Used.") The Norton racing legend began in the 1930s. Of the nine Isle of Man Senior TTs (500 cc) between 1931 and 1939, Norton won seven. After the Second World War, Norton returned to civilian motorcycle production, gradually increasing its range. A major addition in 1949 was the twin-cylinder Model 7, known as the Norton Dominator, a 500cc pushrod twin-cylinder machine designed by Bert Hopwood. Its chassis was derived from the single-cylinder ES2, with telescopic front and piston rear suspension, and an updated version of the gearbox known as a "lay-down" box. Sleeker mudguards and tanks completed the more modern styling of Norton's new premium twin-cylinder model.

Rococo frame. Gilded wood. 18th century. Rectangular frame made of carved and gilded wood, and decorated in the corners and the centres of the sides with carvings of architectural elements, plants and rocaille. The contrast between the smooth mouldings of the sections without carvings and the latter, the absence of a crest and the asymmetry present in the piece are striking. The latter was common in the early Rococo period, an artistic style born in France that developed, above all, between 1730 and around 1760.
