Openwork bonbonniere with enameled porcelain flowers. Inspired by models from the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres (France).
The lidded bonbonniere is openworked almost entirely and decorated with roses, stems, and small flowers of various colors. This type of porcelain was highly prized in Europe from the 18th century onward, and several factories produced similar models to the present one. Specifically, this piece was inspired by small boxes from the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres.

The sextant is an instrument that allows one to measure angles between two objects such as two points on a coast or a star, traditionally the Sun on Earth and the horizon. Knowing the elevation of the Sun and the time of day, one can determine the latitude at which the observer is located. This determination is made with a fair degree of precision by means of simple mathematical calculations. This instrument, which replaced the astrolabe due to its greater precision, was of great importance in maritime navigation for several centuries, including in air navigation as well, until the last decades of the 20th century, when more modern systems became popular, especially the determination of position by means of satellites. The name sextant comes from the scale of the instrument, which covers an angle of 60 degrees, or one sixth of a complete circle. Decorative item.

Modernist lamp in patinated bronze. Without shade. A circular shape that is not completely closed is the base of the piece, and the extension of this is what, after being rotated on its axis, creates the base for the lamp bulb. The abundance of curved shapes, noticeable even on the sides of the upper part (concave) is one of the main characteristics of Modernism, an artistic movement developed around 1900, also known as Art Nouveau, which aspired to renew art by taking inspiration from nature and from elements and materials obtained thanks to the Industrial Revolution. Tabletop mirror frame in bronze. Inspired by Art Nouveau models (ca. 1900). Although the interior shape, very similar to a heraldic shield, links with academic prototypes, the prominence of the stems that form the exterior profile of the frame, the curved lines they draw, the flowers and the interlaced finish (which is vaguely reminiscent of Celtic style) speak of influences from models derived from Art Nouveau, a characteristic style of around 1900 and also known as “Modern Style”. Oriental rice container. Wood and metal. China, early 20th century. Chinese rice storage container, made of carved and varnished wood in a reddish tone, with a flattened ovoid body and a flat lid, slightly raised towards the centre. The shoulders are clearly differentiated by an edge enhanced by the application of a metal moulding, similar to that which outlines the foot. Below the shoulders, on both sides, there are two metal handles in the form of an arch, with floral design fasteners. The lid is decorated with a central roundel of wood carved in lowered relief, combining an exterior border of geometric clouds with a double interior profile of mitered curves. In the centre, a small flattened knob with a flower at the base, matching the fasteners of the handles.

Oriental wedding basket. Plant fibre, wood and metal. China, early 20th century. Wedding basket with two articulated compartments, constructed using basketry and reinforced with wooden slats and cut-out, openwork metal fittings. Rectangular in shape and with a free-standing lid, it is decorated with applied metal rosettes and with careful calligraphy on one of the sides. This type of stacked basket, articulated by a simple system of metal pins that can be removed to separate the different compartments, has traditionally been used in China and other Southeast Asian countries to contain gifts and small objects linked to the wedding ritual.
