BRONZE SCULPTURE, “CUPID”. AFTER MODELS FROM AUGUSTE LOUIS MATHURIN MOREAU (1834-1917).

Decoration - Bronze Sculptures
Reference: V2524

Bronze sculpture, “Cupid”. Inspired by models by Auguste Louis Mathurin Moreau (1834-1917). Lost wax casting. The figure of the child is identified by his wings and the bow he holds. Cupid appears half-naked, with his quiver at his feet and a tree stump behind him. The work is based on models created by a member of the well-known Moureau family: Mathurin exhibited for the first time at the Paris Salon in 1848, and was awarded a Medal of Honour in 1897. His work, inserted in that appreciated family style, shows a series of peculiarities that are still maintained in this sculpture.
