General Prim at the Battle of Tetouan. Oil on canvas. 19th century, based on the model by SANS CABOT, Francisco. Requires restoration. Oil on canvas inspired by a painting made in 1865 by the painter Francisco Sans Cabot (Barcelona, 1828-Madrid, 1881) which is kept in the National Art Museum of Catalonia (catalogue number 010618-000; according to other sources it is in the Palace of the Captaincy General of Barcelona) and depicts General Prim (Juan Prim y Prats, Reus, 1814-Madrid, 1870) second of Catalan volunteers and the Alba de Tormes battalion, crossing the trenches of the Tetouan camp in 1860, in the context of the African War or First Moroccan War (1859-1860).
