Landscape. Oil on panel. ALMAGRO, Juan, 1903. Signed and dated (lower left area). Contains errors. Juan Almagro (Pegalajar 1886-Jaén, 1965) was a Spanish painter who began his training in Jaén, winning prizes and receiving a pension from the Provincial Council to continue his studies in Madrid (Special School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving). In the capital he was a student of Muñoz Degrain, and also received recognition. Apart from making caricatures, he is also known for his landscapes, posters, works on bullfighting themes, still lifes, portraits, etc. After the Civil War he restored and decorated churches. His work is preserved in private collections and in institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts of Jaén or the Provincial Council of Jaén.
